Yellowstone National Park - Fishing Cone

POSTCARD HSCYP (2)       [last updated 11-03-2007]

I have two distinct views of Postcard HSCYP (2).

Differences to the front:
U 1 has black image and text while U 2 is a sepia image and text

Differences to the back:
     None

Earliest Postmark:
     U 1 - August 30, 1901
     U 2 - None

Other remarks:
I have two stereoviews (4596 & 4598), a paperweight (HSC), and a magic lantern slide (65 [Type 2]) of this view
A postcard (HSCYP), photo (4157), and sterling spoon are very similar to this view but look carefully at the feet and fishing pole positions
Rough translation is "Once to the right and once to the left of that you freshly out of Yellowstone Lake caught trout in geyser blue cooked" [best we can do here - help is appreciated]
Franz Doflein, the recipient of this postcard, was a fairly well-known German zoologist [refer to http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franz_Theodor_Doflein]
